Hugo Broos stresses Bafana Bafana must start next month's Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a win
Bafana Bafana should make make sure they beat Angola in their opening match at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
By doing this they would give themselves some advantage ahead of their fellow group rivals in Egypt and Zimbabwe.
This is according to the national team coach Hugo Broos.
"I want to win that first game because that gives you a lot of advantage in a tournament, certainly in a group phase, when you win your first game," said Broos after his side beat Zambia in a friendly international on Saturday in Gqeberha.
Broos said in the previous edition of the African spectacle – in Ivory Coast – Bafana did not start well and this is something they want to alter this time around.
"That was something we didn't do in 2024, and then we had to win the second game and then there was still a question mark for the third game, so we will try to avoid that by already winning our first game against Angola," the Belgian-born coach said.
