Hugo Broos on Nkosinathi Sibisi critics: I think the people who are against him because of the penalty miss are those who do not understand the game
Hugo Broos has reacted with shock to the critics of Nkosinathi Sibisi and labelled them as ‘people who do not know football’.
Sibisi faced heavy criticism following his penalty miss for Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup when they lost 5-4 to National First Division side Casric Stars.
Broos defended the player on Thursday after he announced his squad to face Panama this week in two friendly international games.
“You know, being under pressure because you missed a penalty is the most ridiculous thing you can imagine. I mean, he took his responsibility as the captain of Pirates to take the penalty,” said Broos.
“Okay, he missed it. He is not the first player to miss a penalty. Cape Verde missed five times against us. So, it was really ridiculous, and that shows again that social media is trash, it’s just trash.
“When you put someone under pressure and criticise him because he missed a penalty, then you don’t know anything about football.”
