Hugo Broos on Bafana Bafana 1-1 draw against Panama: It was a good performance by us and it was just that we missed our clear chances
Hugo Broos is disappointed with how Bafana Bafana conceded a goal against Panama.
Bafana players wanted to build from the back at Moses Mabhida Stadium when the visiting Panama dispossessed them to hit the net in the first half.
Edgar Yoel Barcenas netted against Ronwen Williams while Oswin Appollis equalised for Bafana.
The Belgian coach said he told his players to kick the ball into the stands when under pressure as this resulted in a goal against them in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
“I think there was a very good team on the pitch- South African team played a very good game for 90 minutes,” Broos said after the game.
“I think we had eight or nine chances, we played good football, there was depth in our game, combinations were good, positioning was good.
"Everything was good except the goal we conceded – I said during halftime to the players there’s nothing wrong kicking the ball in the stands when you under pressure.
“So, we tried there also to come out in combination but that was not the situation where we tried the combination and come out – kick the ball in stands its over.
“The second chance they had was also a little bit too easy, we lose the ball and could’ve had a second goal but if you see all the chances we created it’s a pity we didn’t win it."
