Hugo Broos confirms Aubrey Modiba is ruled out against Jamaica but will be ready for World Cup opening game
Hugo Broos disclosed that Bafana Bafana left-back Aubrey Modiba will not play against Jamaica in the team's final World Cup preparation match.
Broos said Modiba is being monitored and managed by both the team's technical team and the medical personnel of the squad.
The Mamelodi Sundowns left-back arrived in camp with an injury after playing only of the two-legged Caf Champions League finals, where he limped off in the first leg.
In the second leg, he was replaced by Divine Lunga.
And now the Bafana coach has also said that Modiba will be rested against the Reggae Boyz in Friday's friendly match but will be ready for next Thursday's opening match against Mexico.
“I think Aubrey is very close to training with the group, [if] everything goes very well with him,” said Broos as the team departed for Mexico.
“So I expect him, maybe not for the game against Jamaica. We will not take any risk with him, but I’m pretty sure that he will be there for the opening game.”
Bafana are in Group A alongside Mexico, South Korea and Czech Republic for this year's global showpiece.
