Huge news! Formula 1 returns to a major European country after 5 years
Turkey will once again host a Grand Prix.
Details: It was announced today that the Turkish Grand Prix will return to the Formula 1 calendar after an almost five-year hiatus.
Reports say Turkey has signed a new five-year deal with Formula 1, running from 2027 through 2031.
The last time Turkey hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix was in 2021, when the race at Istanbul Park stunned drivers and fans alike with its slippery track conditions. Since then, due to the COVID pandemic, the Turkish Grand Prix had not been held.
"We are delighted to be returning to the incredible and vibrant city of Istanbul from 2027, to thrill our fans in Turkey and around the world at one of the most exciting and challenging circuits in Formula 1," said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
