Footage provided by the Premier League shows that, at the moment the ball was played to Mateta, the French striker's arm and possibly his shoulder were in an offside position—even though his feet remained in his own half.
The situation sparked debate, but didn't create much controversy, as Oliver Glasner's men ultimately secured a victory that solidified their position in 12th place in the Premier League standings.
