The second racket of Italy, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, disappointingly lost to Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan in the first round of the WTA 250 hardcourt tournament in Hobart, Australia.

The Italian won the first 10 games of the match, and until the score was 6-0, 3-0 (30-0), Putintseva only managed to secure 5 out of 43 total points. With the score at 5-3 in the second set, Cocciaretto had a match point. In the third set, Elisabetta served for the match at 5-4.
