The former world number one in doubles, Hsieh Su-wei, played her final match in singles in her career.

In the first round of the Australian Open qualifiers, the 38-year-old Taiwanese tennis player lost with a score of 6-7(3), 4-6 to the 11th-seeded Anne Bondár from Hungary.

"The set goal for singles – reaching the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament – has been achieved! It's time to conclude this fantastic journey," stated Hsieh Su-wei.

It's worth noting that she reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open in 2021. Last year, Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová became the winners of the Wimbledon tournament.
