Jan Oblak will want to forget this episode as quickly as possible.

Details: A bizarre episode unfolded during the UEFA Nations League clash between Switzerland and Slovenia. The visitors had taken an early lead through Žan Vipotnik, but Switzerland responded in the 10th minute following a disastrous sequence in front of the Slovenian goal involving captain Jan Oblak. The goalkeeper's mistake contributed to the chaos, after which the ball ended up in the net. Importantly, live match records officially credited the own goal to defender Erik Janža rather than Oblak.

The episode allowed Switzerland to restore parity at 1-1 after Slovenia's excellent start to the match. Oblak, normally one of the most reliable figures in the Slovenian side, found himself at the centre of an extremely uncomfortable moment as the hosts were gifted a route back into the contest.

The mistake looked even more painful given Slovenia's defensive record before kick-off. They had started the 2026/27 Nations League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Scotland before defeating North Macedonia 2-0, meaning they entered the match in Lucerne without conceding a single goal in the competition.

Switzerland, meanwhile, had also been perfect defensively before this game, recording consecutive 3-0 victories over North Macedonia and Scotland. Žan Vipotnik's early strike therefore ended the Swiss clean-sheet run, only for the hosts to quickly hit back after the costly mistake at the opposite end.
