During yesterday's match against Athletic Bilbao (0:0), Barcelona suffered the loss of two crucial starting players due to injuries: Frenkie de Jong and Pedri. Both were substituted out in the first half.

According to preliminary information, de Jong has a severe ankle ligament strain, while Pedri experienced a recurrence of a hip injury. Both players will definitely miss the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Napoli (first leg ended 1:1).

As reported by RAC1, there is still a chance for Pedri to play later in this season. He won't require surgery, and there is a possibility that he might return for the final matches of the season and participate in Euro 2024.

The recovery timeline for de Jong is currently unknown.

Since the summer of 2021, Pedri has already missed 71 matches due to injuries. This incident marks his ninth injury since then.

In the current season, the 21-year-old Pedri has played 24 matches, scored 2 goals, and provided 4 assists. The 26-year-old de Jong has featured in 27 matches and scored 2 goals.
