It looks like it's time for Echeverri to head back home.

Details: According to reputable journalist Germán García Grova, the 19-year-old Argentine midfielder for Manchester City, currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, is pushing for a move back to his boyhood club River Plate as early as the winter transfer window.

Echeverri is extremely dissatisfied with his current situation at Bayer and realizes that, at this rate, breaking into Manchester City's first team is a distant dream. A return to River Plate could reignite his spark and get his career back on track.

Manchester City have already been informed of the Argentine's wishes, but have stated they are only willing to loan him out to another European club—nothing more.

Claudio Echeverri joined the Citizens from River Plate in 2024 for €18.5 million. During his time at Manchester City, Echeverri has made just three appearances, scoring one goal. Last summer, he was loaned to Bayer, where he played only eight matches and provided a single assist.

His loan deal at Bayer is set to run until the summer of 2026, but it's likely to be cut short as early as this winter.
