Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves signed a one-day contract with a hockey team
The Canadian hockey club Windsor Spitfires from the Ontario Hockey League signed a one-day contract with Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves.
According to the team’s official website, the 59-year-old actor did this in support of a charitable initiative. A copy of his contract and a jersey with his number and name will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex.
"This is a great day for our organization. We are incredibly proud to have Keanu finally join our team. If he is even half the goaltender he was in Youngblood, we should have a strong season.
We are ardent supporters of CMHA and hope that the auction of this extraordinarily rare jersey will benefit such a vital cause in our community," said General Manager Bill Bowler.
In his youth, Keanu Reeves played hockey and aspired to become a professional goaltender. The Windsor Spitfires had invited young Reeves for a tryout, but an injury prevented him from making it to the major leagues.
Reeves’ first role was in the sports drama “Youngblood” – a film about a young man who dreams of becoming an NHL player.
It is worth noting that the Toronto Maple Leafs have appointed a new captain, who has already made history with the franchise.
