Antoine Semenyo emerged as the hero of the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City. His solitary goal proved decisive, clinching the trophy and etching his name into the annals of Ghanaian football history.
The striker found the net to deliver his team a narrow victory in a tense final showdown. But this goal carried significance far beyond the outcome of the match.
Semenyo's strike in the final marked his 20th goal across all competitions this season. With this, the Ghanaian forward set a new record for goals scored by a Ghanaian player representing an English Premier League club in a single season.
The previous record belonged to Tony Yeboah, who scored 19 goals for Leeds in the 1995/96 season. That milestone stood for three decades, but now Semenyo has surpassed it.
