Lionel Scaloni has finally made his decision about his future with Argentina.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, citing Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo, Lionel Scaloni has agreed to extend his contract as head coach of Argentina until the 2030 World Cup. The proposal submitted by the Argentine Football Association back in September has now received the manager's approval.

The parties have already reached a verbal agreement, and only the final details remain to be settled before the official signing. Although the paperwork has not yet been completed, Scaloni has given the green light to continue leading the national team.

The 48-year-old coach's current contract expires in December 2026. His future had remained uncertain following Argentina's defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, with the federation eager to secure his services for another international cycle.

Scaloni has been in charge of Argentina since 2018 and now looks set to lead the team through another major rebuilding period following Lionel Messi's farewell from international football.

It is worth noting that under Scaloni, Argentina won the 2022 World Cup, the Copa América in 2021 and 2024, as well as the 2022 Finalissima.
