"He's so smart." Pep Guardiola praised the team's young graduate Rico Lewis
Rico Lewis has increasingly earned a spot in Manchester City's starting lineup. The 19-year-old academy product has been excelling in his assigned roles, receiving well-deserved praise from his manager.
Details: Lewis made his debut for Manchester City’s first team in 2022 and marked the occasion with a goal in a UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla. Last season, he featured in sixteen matches, but this campaign, he has already appeared in every game, with only one coming from the bench.
Though he has managed just one assist in six matches – setting up Haaland in the game against West Ham – City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has been generous in his praise for the young talent.

Quote: "Rico Lewis can play in any position. He’s so smart!
Ask 20 players: what's your position? They’ll say, ‘I play holding midfielder, winger...’ Rico just plays football!
If you put him in one position, he knows exactly what to do," Guardiola told City Xtra.
Reminder: Manchester City faces a tough challenge today against last season's Premier League runners-up, Arsenal, at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola is likely to include Lewis in the starting lineup, and we can expect to hear much more about this promising player in the future.
