Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher evaluated the performance of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in his blog for The Telegraph.

According to the legendary center-back, the Norwegian is indeed a splendid footballer. However, Carragher notes that Haaland still needs to become a world-class player.

"To truly become such a player, you need more than just one quality trait. Think of the best Premier League forwards of the last 20 years: Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez, or Harry Kane - they all had or have a significant impact on big matches regardless of whether they score or not. They could all play for any team in the world and produce an impressive number of shots," Jamie writes.

Carragher also adds that Haaland does not execute high pressing, does not hold the ball well, does not demonstrate outstanding physical form on his own half of the field, and does not connect the game with his midfielders.

According to the expert, the Norwegian is an undisputed classic number 9 - the type of striker that everyone considered extinct at the elite level of modern football, but Haaland has now burst onto the scene.

It is worth noting that Phil Foden has matched the record for English players' productivity in the Champions League.
