De Zerbi still treats Mudryk as if he were one of his own players.
Details: Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi spoke warmly about Mykhailo Mudryk, who has been cleared to return to competition after the conclusion of his doping investigation.
The Italian manager called the Ukrainian winger his "son" and expressed hope that Mudryk can once again showcase his real talent:
"He's my son! Misha is a great guy and a top-class player. I hope that this coming season he'll be able to show with his football everything he's gone through over the past two years. Maybe just not against Tottenham... But he's a fantastic guy," De Zerbi said.
De Zerbi knows Mudryk's potential well—he coached him at Shakhtar Donetsk and played a crucial role in helping the Ukrainian break into the first team.
It's worth noting that Mudryk hasn't played in an official match since November 2024. Now, Chelsea are planning to gradually ease the Ukrainian back into the lineup after his long absence.
