"The toughest period of my career," Chelsea star reacts emotionally to football return
Mykhailo Mudryk can finally turn the page on the most difficult chapter of his career.
Details: The Ukrainian Chelsea winger issued a statement following the conclusion of the anti-doping proceedings. The English Football Association confirmed that all parties, with the involvement of the World Anti-Doping Agency, reached an agreement under which Mudryk's suspension has been deemed fully served. Mudryk can now return to competition with immediate effect.
"After a long battle, the four-year ban imposed on me has been lifted, and I can immediately resume my career.
I'm grateful that this process is over, that I'm allowed to return to football, and that I can now look forward. This was the toughest period of my career," Mudryk stated.
The Ukrainian once again emphasized that he has never knowingly or intentionally used any banned substances. He also thanked his family, friends, Chelsea teammates, the club's fans, and his legal team for their support.
Mudryk noted that he is now fully focused on returning to football, working hard every day, and once again making a positive impact on the pitch.
Meanwhile, the English Football Association reported that, as part of the agreement, the player acknowledged a violation of anti-doping regulations. However, due to updated WADA technical guidelines, the meldonium detected in his sample would no longer be considered a positive result and would not have led to charges today.
Chelsea have already welcomed the resolution of the case and stated that the club will help Mudryk regain full fitness and reintegrate into the squad.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian footballer has not featured in an official match since November 2024.
