“Here we go.” Tomiyasu to sign with Ajax until the end of the season
Takehiro Tomiyasu failed to establish himself in Arsenal’s first team, has left the London club, and has now found a new destination to continue his career.
Details: As reported by insider Fabrizio Romano, the Japanese defender will continue his career in the Netherlands with Ajax, with Romano giving his trademark “here we go” on the transfer.
Tomiyasu has agreed to a short-term deal running until the summer of 2026. A medical examination is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, and if everything goes smoothly, he will sign the contract.
We previously reported that Tomiyasu joined Arsenal on August 31, 2021, for a fee of €20 million. However, on July 4, 2025, Arsenal announced the termination of Tomiyasu’s contract by mutual consent.
There was one year remaining on his deal, with an option to extend, but during the 2024/2025 season Tomiyasu played only six minutes. Due to injury, he is unable to return to the pitch at least until the end of 2025.
Reminder: The Eredivisie Matchday 14 fixture between Ajax and Groningen was abandoned and rescheduled for another date.
