Ajax have landed an experienced reinforcement for their defence right at the end of the transfer window.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Ajax have reached a verbal agreement with Thilo Kehrer, who is joining the Amsterdam club from Monaco on a straight loan. The deal does not include a purchase option.

Romano has already given the move his famous here we go, indicating that the key stages of the transfer have been completed. The German defender has already undergone his medical examination and signed his contract with Ajax.

Kehrer therefore leaves Monaco temporarily and will continue the season in the Netherlands. The 29-year-old adds considerable experience to the Amsterdam side, having played in Germany, France and England during his career.

The move comes after Kehrer lost ground in the Monaco pecking order. L'Équipe reported earlier on deadline day that Eric Dier had moved ahead of him and that the German had not featured in Monaco's previous three matches.

It is worth noting that Kehrer has made 99 appearances for Monaco and scored six goals since arriving at the club. The defender has also earned 28 caps for the Germany national team.
