Here we go! Juventus reach agreement for Lucumí transfer from Bologna

Juventus have reached a verbal agreement with Bologna for the transfer of center-back Jhon Lucumí.

Details: Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal with his signature "here we go": the clubs have settled on €20 million plus add-ons, with formalities to be completed in the next 24–48 hours, and the medical scheduled for the weekend. The best news for the Turin side: Lucumí was determined to join only Juventus, despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest.

Personal terms with the 28-year-old Colombian were agreed a week ago: a five-year contract awaits. Juventus’ new sporting director has pulled off a perfect deal: the club pays almost exactly Transfermarkt’s valuation of €22 million for the defender, even though Bologna initially demanded more. Now the Bianconeri can part ways with Federico Gatti and confidently secure the center-back role for Luciano Spalletti.

Lucumí joined Bologna in the summer of 2022 from Belgian side Genk for just €8 million and, over four years, has developed into one of Serie A’s most reliable defenders, playing a key role in the Rossoblù’s sensational campaigns. This summer, he reached the World Cup round of 16 with Colombia, and now his career takes a logical step up.
