Here we go! Bayer agree deal to sign Argentina international defender

Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen have reached a verbal agreement to sign Marseille defender Facundo Medina, with the insider's trademark 'here we go' already given. The deal, as reported by Santi Aouna and L'Équipe, is valued at €23 million plus an additional €2 million in bonuses. The 27-year-old Argentine will put pen to paper as soon as both clubs finalize all the paperwork.

Marseille only acquired Medina's rights from Lens earlier this summer for around €20 million, but did not stand in the way of the 14-cap Argentina international's departure, even though his contract ran until 2030. From the very start of the transfer rumors, the defender gave his approval to move to the Bundesliga, where he will reunite with national teammate Exequiel Palacios in Leverkusen. Medina becomes the latest defensive addition for the Werkself, who have already signed Loïc Badé from Sevilla and Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli this window.

At the 2026 World Cup in North America, Lionel Scaloni primarily deployed Medina, a natural center-back, as a left-back.
