Former Belgium international Radja Nainggolan, who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of drug trafficking, is at the center of a serious investigation. His lawyer, Omar Souidi, shared new details about the case with nieuwsblad.be.
Reports indicate that the questioning lasted several hours, reflecting the gravity of the situation. However, Souidi remains optimistic, believing his client will soon be released. He emphasized that Nainggolan denies all allegations of involvement in illegal drug trafficking.
"We are awaiting the judge’s decision on whether he wishes to summon my client again. The police conducted the questioning very professionally, and Radja fully cooperated and answered all questions. While his name appeared in the case files, no charges have been brought against him. My client’s answers do not imply any involvement. I expect him to return to the field soon in the colors of Lokeren-Temse," Souidi stated.
Nainggolan’s arrest is part of an investigation into cocaine smuggling from South America to Belgium. His home was also searched as part of the operation.
The prosecution has not yet filed formal charges, and the investigation remains ongoing.
