Ferguson's word carried a lot of weight with every player on the team:
“One day, when I was at Manchester United, I got myself a mohawk. I knew Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn't like it, so during the first days of training, I wore a cap to hide my hairstyle in the dressing room, on the pitch, and even at meals.
But on match day, I had to take the cap off. When I went out to warm up, Ferguson said: ‘Shave that off immediately.’
I laughed, but his face changed and he said: ‘I'm serious, shave it off right now.’
So I went to the bathroom and shaved it off.” Beckham recalled.
David Beckham played for Manchester United from 1995 to 2003, before moving to Real Madrid for what was then a staggering €37.5 million transfer fee.
Beckham made 394 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 85 goals and providing 121 assists.
