The fiancée of Deontay Wilder, Chantel Swift, has spoken about the boxer's unstable mental state.

"He vented his anger towards me and our family. I pleaded with him to seek therapy, but he adamantly refused to seek help from a specialist. At that time, Deontay was diligently trying to secure fights that could propel his career forward. As a result, he became emotionally unstable. He would often cry and yell at home.

After losing to Joseph Parker, he became more emotionally cruel to me than ever before. I silently suffered, even as Deontay became increasingly aggressive. I didn't want him to experience new stress," said Chantel Swift in an interview with USA TODAY.

On June 1st, the "Bronze Bomber" unequivocally lost to Zhang Zhilei. The Chinese boxer secured a confident victory over the American with a knockout in the fifth round. Overall, Wilder has lost 4 out of his last 5 matches.

Promoter Frank Warren stated after Deontay's defeat that he should have ended his career after his second loss to Fury.
