Promoter Frank Warren shared his thoughts on former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

On June 1st, the "Bronze Bomber" decisively lost to Zhang Zhilei. The Chinese boxer secured a confident victory over the American with a knockout in the fifth round.

"Yes, I've said many times that fighters need to retire, but the problem is, they don't listen to me.

The peculiarity of fighters is that they are the first to know when their strength is gone, but the last to admit it. That's the problem. And there are people around you who will say, 'Yes, just take one more, take one more fight.'

I believe Wilder should have hung up his gloves after the fight with Tyson. Because those fights took a lot out of him," Warren said.

It was all decided in the fifth round. Initially, the American landed an accurate unprepared punch, but in doing so, he gave Zhilei the opportunity to strike back.

The Chinese fighter didn't miss the chance and, after the first punch, landed a second. Wilder fell to the canvas, and although he managed to get up, the referee stopped the bout and awarded a technical knockout victory to Zhilei.

Previously, promoter Eddie Hearn also shared his opinion on Deontay's defeat to Zhang.
