Experienced Borussia Dortmund center-back Mats Hummels has decided against retiring after the conclusion of the current season.

According to Bild, the 35-year-old player will soon extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund. In recent weeks, there have been several positive meetings between him and the club's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl.

Borussia Dortmund is very pleased with Hummels' recent performances, especially his incredible display against Bayern Munich (2-0).

Hummels is a product of Bayern Munich's youth system but moved to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2008. In the summer of 2016, Bayern Munich bought him back from Dortmund for 35 million euros, but after three seasons, Borussia Dortmund reacquired him for 30 million euros.

Overall, Hummels has played 502 matches for Borussia Dortmund and scored 37 goals.
