"He Boxes Either Brilliantly and Terribly": Dillian Whyte on Joshua Boxing Style
British heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte shared his thoughts on former division champion Anthony Joshua's recent fights and provided a candid assessment of AJ’s boxing style.
Quote: "AJ has always been either perfect or terrible — he’s never been in between. In recent years, he’s kind of here one moment, then gone the next. He’s achieved so much in boxing, so I don’t want to be disrespectful. But AJ is just strange. You never know what he’s going to do in the ring.
Take the fight with Dubois, for example — AJ just stood there, detached, watching him for five minutes. It seemed like he wasn’t even there. It was strange; he’d throw a few punches and then back off. He wasn’t doing anything on the offensive.
I’d still definitely fight Joshua next. I really can’t stand Deontay Wilder, but AJ stopped me. I’d like to settle that score," Whyte told talkSPORT.
To recall: Last year, Joshua and Whyte were slated for a rematch, but the fight was called off after Whyte failed a drug test.
On September 21, Joshua faced Daniel Dubois in a titlle bout, ultimately losing. AJ had been favored to win, but Dubois made him pay. Joshua hit the canvas multiple times before finally being knocked out in the fifth round.
Additionally, Turki Alalshikh recently announced the date for the Joshua-Dubois rematch.
