UEFA has issued an official and extremely tough verdict against Marseille for serious breaches of financial fair play regulations.
Details: According to BeFootball, the French giant has been slapped with a hefty €10 million fine. In addition, European officials have imposed a suspended ban from European competitions, putting the club’s future on the international stage in serious jeopardy.
Nevertheless, Marseille’s management managed to secure a degree of compromise from UEFA: the club has been granted an extra year to completely rein in its financial losses and stabilize its economic performance. This delay acts as a temporary lifeline for the Olympians, giving them a crucial chance to fix past accounting errors without immediate exclusion from European football.
If the club fails to deliver on its financial plan and meet UEFA’s requirements within the set deadline, the suspended sanction will be automatically enforced. This will result in Marseille’s total and unconditional exclusion from all European club competitions, regardless of their position in the domestic league.
Reminder: Roma has reached an agreement with Marseille winger Mason Greenwood.
