Guardiola sums up Manchester City's difficult victory in the Champions League
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on the victory over RB Leipzig (3:2) in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage and reaching the 1/8 finals.
“We play in the Champions League and Leipzig have always qualified for the knockout stages over the last 5-6 years. We made too many mistakes in the defence. We need to win physical battles, but we haven't done that.
We had to calm down, play without tension, and we did that well. We are leading the group, and I am very pleased with the team's reaction at the end of the match. The team runs, fights and shows spirit,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by the BBC.
Manchester City are currently top of Group G after five rounds with 15 points, followed by Leipzig (9 points), Young Boys (4 points) and Red Star (1 point).
