Manchester City has once again made a move to sign Frenkie de Jong—the player Pep Guardiola has admired for years. The English club’s financial muscle allows them to pull off deals of any complexity, but this particular transfer remains out of reach: both Barcelona and the player himself consistently say no.
According to El Nacional, the Citizens have submitted another €70 million bid, hoping that Barcelona’s revamped sporting structure might consider a sale for financial gain. But the response from the Catalan side was unchanged: De Jong is not for sale.
The player himself isn’t entertaining any thoughts of leaving either. De Jong has long settled in Barcelona, both professionally and personally, and sees himself as a vital part of the project.
