Group A Shake-Up: Young Africans Leap Ahead with Win Over Mazembe
Young Africans claimed a crucial 3-1 win against DR Congo’s TP Mazembe on Saturday in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Mazembe initially took the lead through goalkeeper Aliou Faty, who converted a penalty in the 16th minute. However, Young Africans staged a strong comeback, with Clement Mzize scoring twice in the 33rd and 60th minutes, and Stephane Aziz Ki adding another goal in the 56th minute.
The victory lifts Young Africans to four points, placing them in third position in Group A, level on points with second-placed MC Alger but trailing on goal difference. TP Mazembe remains at the bottom of the group with just two points.
Al Hilal, a Sudanese team with a perfect nine points, leads the group and will play MC Alger on Sunday. As the group stage draws to a close, the competition for qualifying gets more fierce.
