The Champions League has turned into an extraordinary goal festival, with records already falling after just two rounds.

Details: The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign has produced an astonishing 147 goals in just 36 matches. That works out to an incredible average of 4.08 goals per game — the highest scoring average in the competition's history so far.

The second matchday, played on October 13 and 14, was particularly spectacular. Teams scored a staggering 78 goals across 18 fixtures, setting a new all-time record for the most goals in a single Champions League matchday. That means an average of 4.33 goals per match.

Wednesday alone delivered 46 goals in nine matches. Among the standout results were Liverpool's remarkable 6-3 victory over LASK, Real Madrid's dramatic 4-3 comeback against Roma, and Aston Villa's crushing 6-0 triumph over Fenerbahçe. Those three games alone produced 22 goals.

It is worth noting that the opening matchday produced 69 goals in 18 games. The second round therefore surpassed that tally by nine goals. The current league phase features 36 clubs, each scheduled to play eight matches before the knockout stage.
