Girona, one of the biggest revelations of the current season in world football, is beginning to bolster its squad for the next season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Girona is close to signing Luciano Rodríguez, the top scorer of the last U-20 World Cup, who currently plays for Liverpool Montevideo.
Girona is offering €15 million for the 20-year-old forward. If the transfer goes through, he will become the most expensive player in the club's history. The current record is held by Artem Dovbyk, for whom Girona paid €7.75 million last summer.
Luciano Rodríguez is a versatile winger, capable of playing on both the left and right flanks. He is likely to replace Brazilian Savio, who is nearing a move to Manchester City.
In the U-20 World Cup, where the Uruguay national team emerged victorious, Rodríguez scored 5 goals. He has netted 4 goals in 16 matches for Liverpool Montevideo this season.
