Girona have announced the transfer of the former Spain goalkeeper

Girona, set to make its debut in the UEFA Champions League, continues to bolster its squad for the new season.

Today, the Catalan club officially announced the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Pau López from Marseille. López joins Girona on a loan deal with an option to buy for €6.5 million, though the purchase clause is not mandatory.

Pau López will compete for the starting goalkeeper position with Paulo Gazzaniga.

Yesterday, Girona also confirmed the signing of Macedonian striker Bojan Miovski from Aberdeen. Miovski is expected to fill the void left by Artem Dovbyk, last season's top scorer in La Liga, who recently transferred to Roma.

For the past three seasons, Pau López was the first-choice goalkeeper for Marseille, where he made 127 appearances. Before that, he played for Roma, Tottenham, Real Betis, and Espanyol.

Girona played their first match of the La Liga season yesterday, drawing 1-1 against Real Betis.
