AFCON -2023. Cape Verde secured a victory over Ghana in added time

In the first match of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, the national teams of Ghana and Cape Verde faced off in Group B.

The nominal visitors took the lead in the 17th minute when Jamiro Monteiro found the net past Ofori. Ghana scored after 20 minutes, but Majееd Ashimeru's accurate shot was disallowed due to an offside position after VAR review.

The Black Stars managed to equalize in the second half through efforts from Alexander Djiku and Jordan Ayew, who registered an assist. However, Cape Verde ultimately celebrated victory today. In injury time, Garry Rodrigues secured three points for his team.

After the first round in Group B, Cape Verde leads with three points. Egypt and Mozambique, who played to a draw, each have one point.
