Gervonta Davis shared his feelings when Martin "hit the canvas"
WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KO) spoke about his victory over Frank Martin (18-1, 12 KO).
"I just needed to find my optimal distance; he had a decent jab and moved a lot. I simply had to break him down.
I started throwing combinations. I knew he would tire. That was the game plan. When Martin went down, I was certain he wouldn't get back up; he put his head on the canvas," said Davis.
Recall that on the night of June 15-16, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA, a major boxing event took place. In the main event, reigning WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis faced challenger and fellow American Frank Martin.
The challenger started the fight well but lost momentum before the midway point. In the eighth round, he lingered by the ropes, allowing the champion to knock him out.
