Germany enjoyed an impressive qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup and have already learned their group for the tournament, yet they could end up boycotting the upcoming World Cup.

Details: According to Die Welt, Germany do not rule out the possibility of refusing to travel to the 2026 World Cup.

According to an ally of Chancellor Friedrich Merz, CDU/CSU foreign policy spokesperson Jürgen Hardt, a refusal by the country and the national team to take part in the World Cup could be an extreme measure aimed at forcing Trump to reconsider his position on Greenland.

The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. For the first time in history, the tournament will be hosted jointly by three countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. It will also mark the first World Cup to feature 48 teams instead of 32.

The Germany national team have learned their opponents in the World Cup group stage. They will face Curaçao on June 14, Ivory Coast on June 20, and Ecuador on June 25.

Reminder: France’s plans for early 2026 have already been unveiled. Les Bleus are preparing for a tour of the United States, where they will come up against two truly formidable opponents.
