On Friday, June 14, the first match of Euro 2024 took place, with Germany playing against Scotland.

Germany started the match very energetically and quickly opened the scoring. In the tenth minute, Florian Wirtz became the author of the first goal of Euro 2024. They swiftly doubled their lead nine minutes later when Jamal Musiala scored. Germany continued to pressure the Scottish defense, and by the end of the first half, the score was 3-0. Kai Havertz confidently converted a penalty earned by İlkay Gündoğan.

After the break, the tournament hosts maintained control of the game. In the 63rd minute, Niclas Füllkrug came onto the field and scored five minutes later, making it 4-0.

Scotland managed to score a consolation goal when Antonio Rüdiger accidentally deflected the ball into his own net from a free-kick delivery, bringing the score to 4-1. Germany responded with a fifth goal, as Emre Can scored from outside the penalty area, ending the match at 5-1.

Germany convincingly defeated Scotland in the opening match of Euro 2024 with a score of 5-1. They earn three points and will play their next match on June 19 against Hungary.
