Highlights. Poland with Iga Świątek wins, Brazil crashes out of United Cup

The United Cup tournament continues in Sydney, Australia. Earlier today, the Netherlands vs Norway and Czech Republic vs China took place.

Then we were waiting for the confrontation in Group D, in which Germany and Italy determined the strongest. The Germans came out victorious. The fate of the victory was decided in the doubles match, in which Angelique Kerber and Alexander Zverev confidently defeated Angelique Moratelli and Lorenzo Sonego, taking both sets, and in the second set not giving a single game to the Italians.

Group D. Italy - Germany 1:2

• Jasmine Paolini - Angelique Kerber 2-0 (6-4, 7-5)

• Alexander Zverev - Lorenzo Sonego 2-1 (6-7, 6-3, 6-4)

• Angelique Kerber/Alexander Zverev - Angelica Moratelli/Lorenzo Sonego 2-0 (6-3, 6-0)

Poland had no problems with Brazil in Group A, with Iga Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz winning their singles matches and then their doubles match.

After this defeat, Brazil became the first team to register an early exit from the United Cup.

On 31 December, matches in Groups B, C and E will take place. The matches will start at 00:30 CET.
