Tennis player Eva Lys has revealed that, like many other athletes, she frequently receives hateful messages on social media. Her comments were reported by the German outlet Bild.

Lys stated that she receives a lot of hate in the comments after her losses and expressed her support for fellow player Katie Boulter, who was recently subjected to horrific abuse from online trolls. Eva believes that the WTA should take action against such incidents, as this kind of behavior cannot be ignored.

She also explained why athletes are often targeted with so many insults.

"They come from the betting world. One hundred percent. That's what they write to you. They talk about how much money they've lost because of you, they threaten you and even ask you to pay them back. They have no shame, they insult people, there are death threats, there is sexism," Lys shared.

It should be noted that the 23-year-old German of Ukrainian descent is currently ranked 62nd in the WTA rankings. She has already been eliminated from the Berlin tournament, losing in straight sets to Spain's Paula Badosa (1:6, 3:6).
