Gennaro Gattuso’s fate as Italy head coach revealed

Italy suffered a shock defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in a 2026 World Cup qualifier, and the future of their head coach has now been decided.

Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Gennaro Gattuso will not remain in charge of the national team. He is set to leave his position following the defeat to Bosnia in the penalty shootout.

Italy will miss the World Cup for the third consecutive time, having also failed to qualify for the 2018 and 2022 editions, and now the 2026 tournament as well.

Reminder: Italy were beaten in the final stage of qualification for the 2026 World Cup and will not take part in the tournament, prompting a reaction from another national team coach — Lionel Scaloni.
