Gavin Hunt wants Stellenbosch FC to focus on beating Marumo Gallants than think of top eight

Gavin Hunt does not want to think about what the prospects of beating Marumo Gallants holds for Stellenbosch FC.

But Hunt wants his side to focus on winning that Betway Premiership game then think about what those three points could mean.

The three points could boost their top eight chances as they currently ninth on the PSL standings with 36 points.

With one game remaining, only Durban City stand on their way, with the Nedbank Cup champions on 39 points.

Hunt said he is ready for any scenario as his side must just focus on winning the game.

“Let’s try to win the game, and then whatever happens from there, happens,” he said as they beat Orbit College 2-0 over the weekend at home.

“We can’t control anything else. I’ve had many of these last-day situations, so we just have to try to control things.

“It won’t be easy against Marumo in Bloemfontein, but let’s try to win the game, and then whatever happens, happens.”

Indeed, it will not be easy in Bloemfontein against Gallants as the Matome Mthiyane side are fighting to stay on the elite division as they are third from bottom on the standings.

The game is scheduled for 3pm at Dr Molemela Stadium.
