Last year, İlkay Gündoğan, as a free agent, moved from Manchester City to Barcelona after captaining the Citizens to a treble.

His contract with the Catalan club runs until 2025, and reportedly, he has no desire to leave.

However, this does not deter Galatasaray from keeping an eye on him in hopes of securing his signing. The Turkish club's president, Dursun Özbek, has confirmed that Gündoğan is his long-time dream signing.

"We need to sign about three players to compete in the Champions League. Perhaps it's time to try and realize my dream signing — Ilkay Gündoğan," Football Espana quotes him as saying.

Currently, Gündoğan is with the German national team, finalizing preparations for the European Championship. It is unlikely he will consider a club change during the continental tournament, especially since he is keen to work under the new head coach, Hansi Flick, next season.

This season, Gündoğan has played 51 matches for the Catalan club, in which he scored five goals and provided fourteen assists.
