Gabonese Striker Aubameyang Feeling Great at 36 After Leading Marseille to Champions League Victory Over Newcastle
Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has insisted he still feels at his best, even at 36 years old, after firing home a brace to lead Marseille to a 2-1 victory over Newcastle in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
Aubameyang was the star of the night at the Stade Vélodrome, delivering two clinical finishes to complete Marseille’s comeback and secure a crucial three points in the group stage.
Speaking after the match, the veteran striker told TNT Sport that he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
"A lot, hopefully a lot," Aubameyang said when asked how many more goals he plans to score this season. "I feel great, even if I'm 36, but I'm enjoying [it]."
The former Arsenal and Chelsea forward’s double against Newcastle takes his career tally to 20 Champions League goals, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most prolific attackers in European competition.
