Funny red card! Referee mistakenly sends off Kalulu in Juventus vs Inter clash
Inter hosts Juventus in the headline fixture of matchday 25 in Italy’s Serie A.
The first half was packed with drama. Andrea Cambiaso first scored an own goal, only to then equalize following an assist from McKennie. However, the spotlight was stolen by referee Federico La Penna.
In the 42nd minute, the official made a glaring error, showing a second yellow card to Pierre Kalulu. The defender, in the referee’s view, fouled Bastoni on the opposition’s half. Replays clearly showed there was no foul, but VAR could not intervene, as the video assistant is only permitted to advise on straight red cards.
Notably, this incident could have played out very differently, as Bastoni, who already had a booking, could have been shown a second yellow for simulation.
