From superstar to co-owner? Ronaldo joins blockbuster bid to buy Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo could be about to take his relationship with Al-Nassr to a completely new level.
Details: According to A Bola, the Portuguese superstar is part of a five-man investment consortium preparing a proposal to acquire Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. Ronaldo is reportedly working alongside AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, as well as businessmen Ibrahim Al-Muhaidib, Mohammed Al-Khuraiji and Sharaf Al-Hariri.
The report states that each of the five members of the consortium is expected to commit at least $100 million, approximately €92 million. That would represent a major injection of private capital into the Riyadh club if the proposed takeover receives the green light.
The process is now approaching a decisive stage. Representatives of RedBird Capital and the consortium are expected to hold high-level talks with PIF within the next 48 hours. Those negotiations should determine whether the Saudi fund is prepared to relinquish control of Al-Nassr or whether the proposed deal will collapse.
If an agreement is ultimately reached, Ronaldo would find himself in an extraordinary position: remaining one of Al-Nassr's leading players while simultaneously becoming one of the club's owners. It is worth noting that the 41-year-old Portuguese has scored three goals in five Saudi Pro League appearances this season.
