The Frenchman spoke warmly about their connection and the support they give each other.
Mbappé summed up how much their relationship has changed over the years with a short but touching statement:
“Cristiano used to be my idol, now we are friends.”
The French superstar went on to explain that their friendship extends beyond football, with Ronaldo offering him advice and encouragement whenever they spend time together.
“I love spending time with him. He gives me advice, he supports me, and he knows I will always support him,” Mbappé revealed.
For Mbappé, Ronaldo was already an important figure long before the Frenchman established himself among the world's leading footballers. Now, the two forwards maintain a personal connection, and the Real Madrid star can turn to the player he once admired from afar for advice and support.
Interestingly, both players have represented Real Madrid, although they never played for the Spanish giants at the same time. Ronaldo spent nine seasons at the club, from 2009 to 2018, while Mbappé joined Madrid in the summer of 2024.
It is worth noting that Cristiano Ronaldo remains Real Madrid's all-time leading goalscorer, having scored 451 goals in 438 official appearances for the club.
