On Tuesday, July 9th, the first semifinal match of the 2024 European Championship took place between Spain and France.

Right at the start of the match, Les Bleus took the lead. In the ninth minute, Kolo Muani scored a goal from a Kylian Mbappé assist. This goal marked France's first goal from open play in this Euro tournament.

In their opening match of the tournament, they won 1-0 against Austria thanks to an own goal. In the match against Poland, Mbappé scored from a penalty (set piece), and in the round of 16, they progressed past Belgium once again due to an own goal. Thus, it took France five matches to score a goal from open play.
