Former German tennis player Andrea Petkovic will serve as the event director for various activities at the Berlin Tennis Open, set to take place in June 2025, Bild reports.

Having recently retired from professional tennis, Petkovic is eager to channel her energy and enthusiasm into her new role.

"I will be present at events to promote them, engage with sponsors. I want people to be excited about this tournament," Petkovic said about her responsibilities.

The ex-tennis star considers her role crucial, as the tournament is expected to attract the world’s top players. The Berlin Tennis Open plays a key role in the lead-up to Wimbledon, taking place just weeks before the Grand Slam. As a result, nearly all top-10 players now attend the event. This year, the current world No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka, is also expected to compete.

Petkovic enjoyed a successful playing career, winning three WTA titles. In October 2011, she reached a career-high ranking of world No. 9, her best-ever achievement.
